We are responding to a community crisis
According to the Winston-Salem Journal, Winston-Salem was ranked #1 in the United States for families with hungry children. We are partnering with Ashley Elementary School to provide backpacks of food for many hungry children to take home on weekends. Ashley School needs our help. Donations are welcome to support this ministry. We need you to make a difference. A little goes a long way towards a hungry child’s health.
We partner with Ashley Elementary and Second Harvest Foodbank to provide backpacks of food for 125 hungry children to take home on weekends.
In addition to the backpack ministry, a number of our members are involved in Weekday Tutoring, Saturday Academy, and Summer Fun Book Club.
The H2H ministry embraces a holistic approach to community development. We are partnering with the leaders in the Ashley Elementary area to empower and build up existing assets and strengthen collaboration initiatives. We have begun ministries which include community gardening, raising sustainability and hunger awareness, community leadership training, and developing working relationships with various churches and entities to meet physical and spiritual needs around us.
The name “From Hunger 2 Health” depicts our mission to reach people for Christ through life-changing relationships by first meeting their physical needs. We covenant to be a Gospel-centered ministry in responding to God’s call to go out and love our neighbors.
